If I click on Tom's image it opens new tab to/p> If I click on Damon's image it opens new tab to local wp.thebeachcats.com host.

First link successful using simple copy/paste Second link successful using add link button . . .

Testing adding URL and using the insert/edit link button

If file size prevents the image from adding to post, might want to consider a resizing BOT to automate the process.
