i NEED a trolling motor/engine to sail out of a terrible rock jetty in mobile AL. it is a close reach the entire length until the end when it points into the wind. my other cat got banged up a month ago trying to tack. but a h-18 has center board so maybe it could make it but i dont want to take any chances. how do i mount a motor and how do i keep salt water out of the battery. i also have a very small outboard. i have considered riviting a hinge on the front beam which pivots a pipe w/ trolling motor forward into the water. then i lash/connect it to the dolphin striker. maybe have the battery in a box at the mast base?
