Hi - I'm new to Beachcats and last summer got a prindle 18. Didn't have the opportunity to use the trapeze last summer but hope to this year. Having never used it I wondered if someone could offer any advice and show some pics about how it should be rigged. I believe I have all of the parts but want to make sure I set it all up correctly. Most of the time the shock cord is sun rotted. It anchors thru a hole in lip near rudder, goes forward to small pulley tied to tramp lacing, then up about 2' to trap handle where it hooks via small plastic carbiner. Need about about 8-9' of 3/16" shock cord. Pete

Thanks - great graphic...only question I have is about the size rope that goes from the shock cord to the dog bone, and how it is connected to the trap line. Thanks again!
I use 3/16 line about 3.5 feet per trap

I was wondering how where should I attach shock cord on an adjustable trapeze, as I would like to prevent the handles from flopping around when not in use.
At first I had the shock cords like on the right side in the picture. But when using it like that the shock cord is in the way when using the mainsheet etc. Also If the shock cord is not tight enough the whole thing flops around when the handles are adjusted to a lower trapeze setting. And the cord pulls the handle down, away from the hook. Then I attached the shock cord below the handle, wich was ok, keeping the cord tight and away from obstructing things. The bad thing was that the handle was flopping around chipping parts away from the trailing edge of the daggerboards. Now I'm going to test the system shown on the left, with a small block below the handle and the cord runs through that to pull up the handle.

Also, I have a Hydra 16ft (newly acquired) that has no trapeze setup. If my trap rig was setup there, would it being annoying to access as it is fore of the side stay? Or is the side stay in a different place on your boat?
I suppose I could run the shock cord back to a pulley (block?) on the side stay.

Yes, You can use either your tiller extension or the Largest batten in your sail to fish it through.
If you are Soloing with Trapeze you would just run the bungee under the tramp from wherever you feel comfortable with it, You can get creative with the Skipper trapeze wire by running a 4 to 1 for Bungee so If you were to pitch pole, you wouldn't break the bungee.

Just FYI, Darren Bundocks C2 was rigged without an adjustable trapeze setup. He had the dog bone, which gives you two heights, and possibly dyneema trap wires for an overall adjustment. The latter are about 1/2 the price of wire trap wires, but if sailing solo warrant extra inspection at the hounds between sailing days.
