Trailer double rollers

I have bought several parts from these guys:

I searched many trailer parts sites and can only find the small single rollers. If I don't come up with any I will just make some using aluminum end plates and the softer rollers that are available. Would like to just bolt them on though.

If you are trying to distribute the hull loading from a single roller, there is an easy way to do it.
I think I got this idea from Dogboy, here on this site.
I only have single rollers on my trailex trailer, the skeg hulled Nacras are fine, but I had concerns about the thinner walled H18.
On the occasional time I move a cat, I roll it onto the trailer, then simply lift each of the rear corners & insert the cradle. The cradle gives far more support than triple rollers would, & cost me 5 cents each to make.
They are just a section cut out of bit of scrap 12” sewer pipe. Screw a couple bits of scrap 2x2 (countersink the heads so they don’t mar the hulls), with one on each side of the roller.
Once you secure the boat, they cannot come out.
When launching, simply lift the corner & remove them.

Thanks for the info. My issue is that my Highlander trailer has a single roller that is smaller in diameter than
the one on your trailer. My experience is not positive with these rollers since the metal side bracket almost reaches the height of the roller. Hard to believe that the doubles are not readily available since so many
trailers have them. If I cannot find them my next plan is to use the existing brackets as the center
pivot and make up a double roller set. I priced out all of the parts and it comes to about $150 for 2 sets. It has always been my plan to use a drop in cradle on the rollers for lengthy travel and storage. The spacing of the rollers gives a nice "slot" to drop the base of a cradle in. I see a lot of pics of magic tilt trailers with doubles so I will reach out to them. They of course show the little singles on their site.

I used two of these at each side. The crossbar is flexible rotationally, which allows the balance of weight between both rollers. I added posts inside the hulls to help aligning and to avoid that the boat falls off to the side. I used galvanized U profiles bolted at two points directly to the crossbar and covered by a PVC tube.

With double rollers i think it’s enough for traveling, I have the cradles I removed fro
the trailer but never used them. Maybe on a skeg boat it is more necessary. I will rather put those cradles on the beach wheels one day.

Way back in old days before retirement ....I was a Sheet Metal Worker and built everything I needed. This ( https://roxom.com.au/shop-online/8-tandem-brackets) can be built by most local fab shop without paying for shipping. It is only some bar stock and rod steel any steel supply shop will precut for you. Many steel shops charge you only for the weight, no cut charge. Just drill the holes and find a welder and buy some roller.

Me, I added bronze bushings that are self lubricating at the pivot point that snap into the bar shock.... 😉

I haven’t figured out how to embed a picture from the cel.

In my case the trailer crossbars were a little bit short, not much length beyond the hulls's center, So I think I only used the u-bolts on the inner side and drilled and bolted the roller bases through the crossbar near its end.
I actually used an eyebolt, useful to fit a ratchet strap.

Try Jill at Red Gear Racing, they are the North American Goodall dealer and can help you with all the questions you posted. C2 rigging, SNU bag (she has someone who makes them), and I know she has gotten those double rollers for people before.

This is great.
Make sure the pivot is off center to the left or right when you drill, and put the bracket on the trailer so that it falls toward the back of the trailer when not loaded. This ensures that the rollers will be the first thing your hulls touch when you are loading the cat (assuming you steer well.. 🙂
