I went looking for a little more information on SS swage fittings and came across a couple of useful sites.

http://www.bosunsupplies.com/Fatigue/

The first seemed to be worth the time to take a look and this section that is excerpted from Brion Toss’s book “The Complete Rigger’s Apprentice – Tools and Techniques for Modern and Traditional Rigging” (International Marine; Camden, Maine 1998).

I don't think I will be buying the book cause I am never going to be an apprentice again.

Here is another site with some useful info from a well informed surveyor on swage fittings and chainplates:

http://www.dixielandmarine.com/yachts/DLrigprob.html

New term to learn, crevice corrosion and it for sure applies to swaged fittings.
