A while back I got a h14 to tinker with and sail in our local 80 acre park lake. I've been doing a little rudder work and the tiller was really high, like 2 feet above the tramp at the lowest. After taking a look I realized the connection was almost 90 degrees out so I drilled a new hole and it's just fine. BUT, even though it's old they're all factory parts and not modified. I thought it was really odd that the tiller would sit so high. Then I saw a picture of another 14 and the bulb came on. All I really needed to do was swap the crossbar end for end. DOH!

Sometimes the previous owner leaves a puzzle for you.
We've seen a few in this forum.
Not coincidentally, it's pretty much why this site exists, a resource for problem solving.

Damon, I haven't looked today but the crossbar is marked port and starboard. I'm not sure, but I really think the port side is on the port side so that really still makes no sense. It may just be the end fittings that are marked though. I've got to look again to be sure.
