Shock Cord and Hog Rings
I am replacing the weather beaten shock cord that is used with the Hawaiian righting system which runs under the trampoline on my Hobie 16. I believe the system uses 1/4" shock cord. I read an article that stated, when securing a loop using hog rings, the hog rings should be the same size as the diameter of the shock cord. If I use 1/4" shock cord, then I should use 1/4" hog rings. Can someone confirm this? I'm having difficulty finding 1/4" stainless steel hog rings. I did find some nice black marine grade heavy duty shock cord, now I just need to find some hog rings and replace that old worn out cord.

1/4" shock cord sounds small for holding up the righting line. I think when I had that system, it was 3/8" shock cord. You don't want the line to drag in the water, and it will without enough tension. Anyway, here is the link to hog rings (cinch rings). Use two on each end for added security.

I just measured the shock cord that is under my tramp and I agree, it's not 1/4". I am using a vernier caliper and I'm getting measurements of about 8mm which is 5/16 diameter, I also compared it with an 8mm bungee and it was spot on. I also measured the block/pulley that the cord goes through and around and it has a width of 8mm. So, I should get 5/16 shock cord.
Thanks for the links concerning hog rings. I saw some on the West Marine website, you can get a pack of 6 for 99 cents. I was going to order 2 packs but the shipping was like 10 bucks!!! I figured I'd try to find something local and save a couple bucks.

5/16 is the perfect fit. Thanks much for the tips. I've got to say, we are a close knit community here and I thank everyone for all the advice and tips to help me out. I truly appreciate it and one day I hope to be able to return the favor for people getting into cat sailing. Thank you!
Here's the last word on hog rings from Suncor. I buy them through West Marine branded as Seafit.

From experience, beware the cheap crap on ebay in bulk.

Learn something new here every day, didn't know you could get stainless steel shock cord hooks!
