Sail Size Stats

I did recall seeing a link here to a site that has sail stats.. Have done some searchs with no luck.. I would like to cut down a 5.8 sail for my 5.2.. I think it would be easy if I took off that tag at the foot. There is only 20 sq ft difference. But like to have the dementions of both befor I start.. Thx Hal

i grabbed this from some sail maker site a couple of years ago
NACRA 5.2 MAINSAIL
Luff 28.17*ft (8586mm)
Foot 7.5*ft (2285mm)
Leech-AftHdBd 28.74*ft (8759mm)
Tack Ang 88*
Diag (clew/head) 28.9*ft (8808mm)
Head (inches) 3.5*in (89mm)
Area (no Roach) 109.08*ft2 (10134mm2)
the 5.8 sail is no doubt taller than the 5.2 so you could cut the top off to square top it...but you would need to make a diagonal batten pocket to support the square top back corner if you did this
but the first thing you might want to check is if the 5.8 sail foot length is as long as the 5.2's
the 5.8 is boomless and the 5.2 is boomed and i think that MIGHT mean the 5.8 sail has a shorter foot than you expect...

Hal, don't do it!!!! I think I have a really good 5.2 sail that I can bring you in the spring. We could swap, I have used a 5.8 on my 5.7 as a light air sail. It is a wee bit longer, less room to slide under, but still OK. I laid them out on the lawn on top of each other, the 5.8 is also a few inches wider.
I have some 5.2 decals that ERICE sent me, I'll send you a couple. Bottle one of those big wooden casks & stick 5.2 stickers on, & sell 'em for primo denaros!
I have not done the 4 hour drive to get that hull fitting you need yet. The Email you sent me was a dud, still waiting for a good one.
Myself & the little lady are suffering down in Barbados right now, no bloody wind to speak off!
