Rigging the Top Batten on Flat Top Sail Thingy

My top batten slot has a strap and d-ring combo. There is no cringle on that slot, so the strap must hold the batten in. Does the webbing just go through the slot on the end cap? Seems like a lot of material has been used to make this device, so I think there must be more to it.

Looks like the wrong Batten Cap. Try one of these;

I just recently ordered new sails for my nacra 6.0 and had them put straps and buckles for all my battens, I also had them on my previous sails. I love them.
