Would JB Weld or another type of epoxy be good to reinforce one of the holes in the casting? I just noticed a chip right above one of the holes. I would like to fix it so it doesn't get worse. It could have been like that for the past twenty years, but who knows. Thanks Pete

No that would not due a suitable job. A replacement is your best bet.

On the other hand, .... What's the downside? If it has been like that for twenty years then the repair will be perfect. If the repair doesn't do anything, all you've wasted is the cost of the JB Weld. If it were me I'd put in some epoxy and admire my handiwork. If I was going seriously offshore then I might keep the casting as a spare or get it welded up. But I don't so ....

Shut up, sheet in, trap out.
