Prindle 18-2 and Prindle 18 similarities
What parts, of any, are interchangeable between an P18-2 and a P18? I'm aware the 18-2 has center boards and the 18 is boardless. I'm considering an 18-2 but it needs parts, specifically sails, boom, rigging, and possibly steering. Haven't seen much around for the 18-2, but see stuff for the regular 18...

I believe the rudder castings and possibly the rudders interchange but can't think of much more. I heard some 18-2's had a different length/profile rudder. I know of a really nice 18-2 in upstate NY that could be had at a great price. Almost bought it but decided on a Tornado instead. Still considering the 18-2 though.

The quick answer is that the rudder castings and the mast are the same, all else is different.
You could replace the mast, boom and sails on an 18-2 with same from a regular 18, but the bridle wires and shrouds may be a bit different in length. I have not done this swap, but have read about some that have.
As dis-similarities go the 18-2 is:
Wider, so the crossbars and tiller connector are longer
Has a square boom that is also longer and has an internal 4:1 outhaul car
tramp is bigger
mainsheet blocks are bigger
Sails are larger
Rudders are shorter due to centerboards
Hulls are very different
As you can see, not much to interchange unless you replace all that is aloft.
I have a collection of useful 18-2 data here if you end up buying it:

Here's a parts list. looks like most 18-2 parts are shared with the 19.
