Hi all,

I'm upgrading my Prindle 16 for reggata (races with texel, yardstick).
I added a snuffer system with spinaker (17m2). On weekend I will add photos with sail. I also change a jib - it is much lower (attached to spi pole) and jib sheets will be at front crossbar to better trim.
I added an album in technical tips but here you have a few photos also - maybe for somebody it will be helpful!

Spi pole (3,05 m) is from windsurfing mast, ring and snuffer bag is from nacra f18 (2,5m long). Sail is from polish sailmaker Bryt Sails. They do a lot of sails also for A-Cat.

So here is the spinaker (it is flat because of no wind that day)

I think you put your sail on sideways

And now for something completely different...
I just realized that this boat is white. In the first pic it looks like baby blue, I guess it was in a shadow or something.

Isn't a spi on a P16 mast something the cat is not build for?
Like the Dart 18 it has no spreaders, diamond wires whatsoever.
Have seen Dart 18 masts break with a spi up and driven hard.

you are correct - this cat was not designed with a spin in mind -
but these are very robust cats and probably can withstand the tension and torsion that is going on
don't forget the h16 has a spin kit - and i say a prindle is at least as robust as a hobie, if not more... (prindles dont seem to be as prone to soft hulls as hobies from what i can tell)

the mast on the other hand is very susceptible to failure from these forces
the cycling alone (when gybing repeatedly) is probably the worst part of it .... and i would think the more you use it, the more likely you are to killing your mast. But the mast can be replaced pretty easy and the mast is about the same cost as the spin set up itself -

so as long as you can "stomach" the risk and costs- enjoy

Nice one, good vid. Now show me one with the spi up ;-)..
One advise, you need a line/shockcord from the rear beam
to prevent you from falling forward while trapezing.
There's a threat about this here at the BC.

Or footloops (10") on the gunwale by drilling thru the lip. I use 4 on each side. Pete
