Hey folks,

I have found exactly one vendor having rudder blades for Nacra 5.0's/5.7's in stock:
https://bnrwatersport.com/parts-categorized/rudders-blades/nacra-5-0-5-7-rudder-blade-detail.html

Is there anything I am missing. Can you guys help me out?
I'd also be interested in used rudder blades that still do the job.

Br from Germany!

Hey Lars, thank you for your answer.

Maybe nothing's with it. I do not know. That is the problem. If there were multiple offers, potentially with different rudder blades for my 5.7, I could compare and tell.

So I'd have to trust this vendor.

By the way, do you know him personally as you're referring to his first name?

Br!

Hi,
Not personally, but I know him as a serious seller, as I have bought quite a lot from him through the years. It is a goldmine for me, as I, exactly as you, sail old Nacras(5.5 and 5.8) and other obsolete multihulls. Remember it is an over 20 years old boat and Nacra don´t produce spares. Have bought sails, 5.8 hulls, rudder blades and a lot of other items. It works for me 🙂 .

Do not buy used rudders from a 5.2, which are more readily available.
Rudders from a 5.0 will work, they’re the same as used in the 5.7.
Look at your hulls from a side view. Notice the skeg hull boats have a definite rise towards the rear, from where the skeg ends. The non-skeg boats do not have that rise, and use a shorter rudder. If you use one of the rudders from say a 5.2 it will be about 4 inches too short.

Off course one should use the correct rudder for the boat.
5.0, 5.7 are the same. 570 might also be the same but the holes for the rudder holder has then to be redrilled.

Max! I might have a 5.7 or 570 rudder in my workshop for you, must check next week.

To clarify these are the correct ones:

5.0/5.7

Might work, anyone who has checked? 570

The totally wrong one:

Max, found an image of the one in my workshop, seems to be 5.7. I am in Sweden so shipping might be acceptable. If interested mail me at lars (at) soderquist.se. Can sell at half price 😉 .

Make sure you have the delrin screws so the rudders do not bang the hulls. The front of the rudders I have for the 5.7 are actually slightly under the hulls when cleated tight. They are extremely responsive. If the screws are not in they will definitely hit the hulls.

You can purchase all the new Nacra 5.0/5.7 rudders (they use the same rudder) you want from the Nacra folks in Brisbane AU. They still make the 5.0 there and have all of the parts that will fit our legacy Nacras in the USA.

Or, get ambitious and hang a set of Hobie 14,16,+++ rudders on it, they're plenty long enough.
