When tacking, often the jib gets caught on the diamond posts coming out of the mast. My jib blocks appear to be positioned correctly. (if the jib blocks were on positioned further from the centerline, like the inside edge of the hull, it'd probably not catch). I've got the jib secured as far forward as it can go.... just interested if this happens to others, or if maybe there's something wrong with my rigging.
They sell rollers for the diamond wires that let it roll off. HTH, Ricardo.
please post photo how jib blocks installed, never had that problem with 5.2 or 5.7s, P S Ricardo please advise who carries rollers
the above mentioned rollers should do the trick
or even wrapping a big ball of electrical tape around the end of the spreader
the 5.2 jib has a big overlap
that feeds the main beautifully on reaches
try not to mess about with the jib block positioning too much or your pointing will go out the window

We were dumbass & forgot to put the Nacra rollers on the shrouds when new ones were made for the 5.0
These are better than the stock units, & can be installed at any time.
Snug a tie wrap onto the shroud, just above them. It prevents the roller from going up to the mast hound, & getting stuck there when you flip.
As Erice mentioned, wrap tape around the spreader end, sort of a figure 8. Build it up to cover the spreader end. It also locks the spreader to the shroud wire, much better than the "seizing wire" & end cap the manual calls for.
The other thing that hangs the jib is the blocks hanging up as they go around the mast. Do you have a bungee preventer, run from one side of the front beam, up to & through where the diamonds attach to the mast, then over to the other side?

The jib catches the spreader when it's loose in irons, try changing the sheets a bit later and backwinding the jib for an instant, this way it will move at once to the new position without getting caught. (Take it from a recreational only sailor, N5.5, I guess it's the same).

This is one of the smartest things you can do for your sanity sailing a beachcat. It keeps your jib sheet from fouling on your mast base, rotator and other hardware you may have on your front beam.

Yes, I have a bungee preventer rigged; works well. I have been leaving the pin in on the mast-ball. I've heard some people advice taking it out after the mast is in place. Is it just so the jib sheets don't get caught? (that rarely happens anymore)
Ummm, it's so the mast can rotate freely...unless this base design is different from every other beachcat design...
