Mast compatability

The beam profile on the 5.8 is round, while the P18 is teardrop, so you won't be able to change out the "steps". I believe the mast profiles might be the same, if so you could swap the Prindle base to the Nacra mast.
Other things to consider is that you will have to cut the 5.8 mast down from the bottom to get the hound to the proper height, and you would have to swap out some hardware. as the 5.8 is boomless.

I found a cheap boat, a nacra 5.8. I have not seen it yet, but worst case I would break it down for parts. I would love to have a spare mast for my Prindle. I would also love to rebuild it if it is salvageable. No jib, needs a new tramp and I do not know if it has daggerboards. I would pick it up just so other 5.8 owners could have another source for goodies for their boats. BTW, anyone ever build boards from scratch? I'm thinking I could do it with a baltic birch core bondo, cloth, and gelcoat.
I was hoping to get there today to look at it but the person has not gotten back to me.
With that said, we were double trapping on the Prindle yesterday, plus had another 70 lbs of weight in the form of a dog, and the boat/mast held up great. I'm guessing the couple little dents in my mast are not a problem.
BTW, I love that boat. So easy to control compared to my days on a hobie 16. And it moves fairly well too. I am going to have to flip it at some point, just to be sure my wife and I have the weight to right it. We are 290lbs wet, probably right on the border of having enough weight to do it.
very cool, it's still pretty chilly to get wet here, 45 degree water.
My boat is ready for the water, need dog bones, will likely make them from 1/4 inch stainless rod.
still messing with the trailer would like to teade the 8 inch wheels for 12s.
new fenders needed, adding a winch, forward rollers and side rollers.
I'm pretty sure it's a factory Prindle trailer.

Don't bother, it isn't worth the trouble.
Email Pete Begle,(has lots of ads in the classifieds) or Dan Berger, also here. I'm sure they have a bucket of them & could mail your a couple for reasonable cost.
The ither option is just make them from line.
Many sailors have gotten tired of the bones bangin them in the teeth when sitting on the hull, && made them from line. My N5.7 is converted. I don't have a photo online, do a search, I copied someone else s good idea.
If you can't find it, I'll email a photo.
Just slide a piece of plastic tubing over the line to keep the "Loop" open. It works as good as a steel bone & doesn't crack your teeth. I had a couple of the 3:1 systems, so I can adjust on the fly, it works really well.

Cool guys thanks, I was thinking 1/2 inch stainless ring for the bones.
The plastic fenders sound good. Will email you P.
I thought the trailer was Prindle, as I saw a couple boats on a similar trailer, no forward rollers
