My jib line is getting snagged on mast base , downhaul cleats and anything else around mast base. Drives me crazy in higher winds as i am halfway through a tack !! It is a Prindle 19 , Is there something missing on my setup?

Do you have a preventer?
Run a piece of 1/4" bungee from the outside of the front beam-through the bottom of the diamond wires-over to the far side of the beam.
That will deflect the jib blocks/sheet away from the mast base/cleat

+1 Had 18' Prindle with same issues. An extra piece of trap bungee solved the problem.

A pictures worth a thousand words. This is not my cat, i just cribbed the photo from one of the albums.
You can clearly see the preventer, looks like an inverted "V".

If you have a mast rotator, the jib sheet might still get snagged with the preventer rigged as shown in the picture submitted by Edchris. I solved this by running the ends of the bungee forward and outboard to the the bridle foil tangs. You can make a simple attachment using using small diameter line looped around the tang and add plastic clips to the bungee ends.

a single bungee attached under the jib furler (if there is one), or similar location and the other end connected to the mast will have the same results
