Took the Prindle 16 out for its maiden voyage today, was super fun, except that the cleat on the mast holding the jib halyard snapped in half mid-sail, sending the jib on to the trampoline.
Any suggestions for a replacement - replace like with like - another horn cleat, or is a cam cleat an option?

No cleat! I suggest you go to the manual page 21 and redo your jib halyard arrangement.

(Modernize the system by attaching a line to the jib tack and lead it along one of the bridle wires and back to the main beam to get an adjustable downhaul.)

This is the older Hobie-style jib - I should have said so.
So what, upgrade, even if you have ancient stuff π . But even with an old style jib you can and should adopt the system with the halyard return along the forestay. Use a 2-2.5mm Dyneema. I assume the old system is with a steel wire inside the luff pocket?
If searching for a descent jib, my guess, a zippered F16 might work.
