identification of boat
I am proud owner of what my stepfather says is a TopCat. She's 11' loa, beam 6', fiberglass hulls, a wooden cockpit. original sail/jibsail, and the sail is emblazoned with TC 5, which my stepfather says is the fifth built of her type or line. I cannot find information anywhere... i'm just curious of the ancestry of this thing.

I've heard of them but never seen one, we don't see too many european boats in North America except for the darts, some of which were manufactured here.
They still make them in Germany http://www.topcat.de/e/index.htm .
And Wikipedia has a good article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topcat . The 11 ft LOA doesn't look right according to the article, but the beam matches. It could be a one off at the beginning of production or the measurement could be off. Not sure if there was another company called topcat (very possible).
If it is indeed #5 from the topcat company mentioned above then it would be a 1977 model.

Hard to say what you've got without pictures. You might have the TopCat company Wolfman linked to but an old model that's not on their site. Or could be unrelated.
Please either create an album in the "Beachcats Identification" section
<a href=" http://www.thebeachcats.com/pictures/?g2_itemId=3120&g2_page=2
"> http://www.thebeachcats.com/pictures/?g2_itemId=3120&g2_page=2
or email me pictures of your boat, especially the sails, deck, and rudder system details as well as overall side and front/back views.
Thanks,
