Just refurbished this 1973 Tornado Catamaran. Awesome boat I really like sailing it.
I want to add a Genaker sail. Any suggestions on where I can get a kit or instructions on how to add it would be appreciated. Also, I've never sailed it yet in really strong wind and it doesn't have a mast flotie. My other 18' cat never needed to be righted meaning I never flipped it even in pretty strong wind. This one is 10' instead of 8' and I'm wondering if (being a recreational sailor) if I really need to bring righting equipment or what your experience is.
I usually only sail in 10-25kts wind or so. Thanks.

What about a spinnaker instead? I have not seen any gennakers on a beach cat, only on monohulls.

As for righting.... purposely put the on its side in shallow water and see if you can right it.

Most Tornado's (if not all) add a spinnaker, not a genniker.. but you can do whatever you want... (i wouldn't)

I know several cats with them (gennikers or code zeros's)
I fly a Tornado Spin on my cat..

IN MY OPPINION... go sail your new rocket ship about 100 times before you even consider putting a turbo rocket (genniker/spinnaker) on it... its a monster without it.. wait till you fly a hull doing 30 downwind with a spin up!!

Great. Thanks. Could you send some photos of how you set it up. It's my favorite boat so far I really like it a lot. The photos I've seen look like gennikers but maybe they're spinnakers. Also where would you suggest getting a spinnaker kit to add to this boat? My email address for photos is Seakayak2@yahoo.com Thanks again.

This was an f18 spin.. it had a much shorter luff.. so the pole was higher
