hobie cat 16 construct plan


I know they use molds to make H16s, so I think you'd want to get your hands on a set of those somehow... you could probably do it without molds, if you're good with fiberglass, by making a frame to lay over; but it would be difficult to lay it up straight. Also it's virtually impossible to get a nice gel cote finish without a mold because the wax doesn't wick out optimally unless you use a mold.
If you can find a set of molds, it would be a fun project, but it would be pretty expensive. I'd estimate that the fiberglass and resin alone would cost more than a used H16 that's in good condition. Do you mind if I ask why you want to build one instead of buy one?
