I'm on a quest to add a spinnaker to my Hobie 16. Does anyone actually have one of the newer spinnakers that comes from Europe?

I'm going to have Kelly-Hanson Sails make one for me and I really need the correct sizes, or confirm what I have:

Luff = 19.5 ft
Foot = 8.75 ft
Leach = 17.25 ft

The Hobie Europe site says 15 meters squared.
I'm not sure how they add that up.

Please help! I have bought the blocks and made an aluminum spinnaker pole, so I'm ready to order the sail. They have priced one at just under $300. That's a great price! I've spent just over $200 on what I have so far and will still need about another $150 worth of rigging and rope. I will make a midpole snuffer system for about $50, so I think the whole thing will cost about $700.
Here's some of my collection so far.

I can't wait to achieve this:

Hobie in Europe answered some of my questions except for the sail size.

I did find out the line lengths:(Converted from Meters)
Sheet 39'4" of 8mm or 5/16 rope
Halyard 69' of 5mm or 3/16" rope
Tack line 18'1" of 6mm or 1/4" rope

These sizes are for use with a midpole snuffer setup

Any help will be greatly appreciated! πŸ˜•

Thanks,

Hello Mike,

Maybe this link will help setting it up. http://www.thewatersportscompany.com/catalog/hc16.php
And you could send them an email at info@hobiecat.nl about the size of the spi.

Since F18 is such a big class over here in europe, most diy guys buy a used F18 spi ,there's lots of them.

Did you still need help with your setup. I have detail instruction on the setup. I have the kit for Europe but also modified it a bit.
