Handheld VHF and PFD Choices

I've been looking at handheld VHF and was wondering what the hot item is now? Gary and Bill, anything new on the waterproof research?

It looks like the Icom m34 ?? that was discussed before isn't available from West Marine, is the floating M72 the decendent? My "max pain threshold" for $ is about $200, any reccomendations?

How bout PFD's? Mine are all old, ripped, worn out, I like the Extrasports, anyone used the reasonable priced models like the Contour and Eagle?
