Hello,
Any recommendations for a handheld VHF that is currently available on the market?

I have the Standard Horizon HX870 w/GPS. Sorry don't have anything I have used recently to compare it to. Most radios all do the same thing. Some things to look for -> Good buyer reviews, waterproof, floating, distress signal ability, ease of use.

I have an ICOM M24 it's ok. It doesn't have a clock display. That's a pain. Ease of use is important. You don't want to be messing with a complicated menu structure.

I sail with an ICOM M25. I have not charged it in a year and it still says its full...it has a flashing light if it falls in the water, but it's red and impossible to see in practice. It also has a siren for when it falls in the water. Water muffles it but that works...works too well. It will alarm while on or off and every time it gets wet. I have to keep it in a dry bag to keep it quite. Keeps well right by my smart phone.
In short, its ok.
