H16 jib setup with swivel

I purchased a 2007 Hobie 16 with a stock jib sheet rigging. This stock setup does not appear to provide a swivel feature for the jib sheet. At least mine does not swivel.

here is a good picture of the jib sheet cam cleat part:

Does anyone have recommendations on an alternate jib setup that provides a swivel feature? I find the jib hard to cleat and un-cleat when not facing directly into the jaws (and this is harder for the kids).

My 2007 boat has an integrated jib traveler track in the crossbar.

Thanks,
Ted

I never used the new non-swiveling car, but there are many who do and seem to like them fine. They do have roller bearings that should make them travel easy.

When I got my '08 H16 a couple of years ago, I took one look at the non-swiveling cars and immediately transferred the swiveling cars from my '98 H16. Those have no rollers....they're just mounted on a chunk of material that's shaped like the inside of the integrated track. I'm not sure what years this type car was on (would assume they started with the integrated track) or if new replacements are available.

Hope this helps some.

As a 5 year only Hobie cat sailor on many 80's H16's and a couple 20's I'd be happy to test out your new non swivel style, integrated jib track and cam cleat, No charge! In fact, I'd love to crew and do the r&d trial tests for free :0)
You guys have great cats all around!

Tim, too funny and I hear what you are saying. I can only claim that my car is 15 years old - its a question of priorities. πŸ˜‰

It looks like some people like the non-swivel setup. http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=53581&p=247851#p247851

To me this is less optimal since smaller hands (my kids) have a harder time cleating and uncleating.

Note that on the new rig, there is an option for a swivel on the jib traveler line, which is backwards to me.
