Are F18 mainsails interchangable? I.E can i buy a nacra sail and fit in on a hobie tiger? Im looking for a cheaper alternative than buying one from hobie!

F18 mainsails are cut to fit a mast...the Nacra's have wing mast and Hobie Tigers do not, so I don't think a Nacra sail would work on your Tiger.

A different sail will work, but it may not have the desired performance characteristics on your rig.
Not all Nacra F18's have wing masts; actually only the Infusions do.

I would bypass the Hobie sails as well at this point as the Tiger sails are 2-3 years outdated (could be wrong about that but I don't think they've update the design) and the WildCat sails are designed around a different rig.

I would go for a set of Glaser, Ullman or Landenberger sails. Landenberger ( http://www.landenberger-sailing.com/web/landenberger/de/segel/mehrrumpf/formula_18.html) would probably be my first choice but they will be expensive due to the low value of the USD compared with the Euro. Any of these options can be custom built to fit the mast and your crew weight.

Try Chip @ whirlwind if you're looking for a great sail at a great price. If you need his contact info, PM me. He built both my spin and my new main. The main is spectacular, custom load path technology from dymension polyant. Performs beautifully
