Guy on the beach next to me for his F18HT. No issue. Had it that way for 2 years now I think.
Only thing, although the line doesn't strech... the splices will "tighten down" resulting in some slack..
Of course you have to splice it, but 8 and 12 strand is REALLY easy, simple and fun once you've done 2 or 3.
I use the stuff all over for soft shackles, and spliced an eye in to my spin halyard (hobie 18)... I also use it for my tramp lacing, since it doesn't strech.
I have new Ronstan trap handles on order and will be doing my trap lines when the handles arrive.

I don't use it on my standing rigging except for the spin pole lines.

I do use it as part of the rotater, jib sheet and spin halyard on an F18 and I've laced a P 16 tramp with it. All 1/8 inch Amsteel, bought a spool. Also used it on a P16 to connect the jib blocks and a Nacra 6.0 for the 4 way jib system wire replacement and one piece pig tails for the jib on the P16 an N6.0 . Easy to splice, get a Selma fid or a Brion Toss splicing wand and learn a locking brummel eye splice. Also buy some cheep scissors to cut out strands for the taper. Dyneema is some tough stuff to cut.

I've thought about using it to replace the trap wires but I still have a spare set of new wires.

The only place I see H16 guys using it is the Aussie Jib Halyard and they use something bigger than 1/8

High-modulus polyethylene lines like dyneema/spectra/amsteel/etc are know to have creep (continuous stretch over its life.

that makes it a less than perfect choice as a side shroud. - It can be done, but you have to occasionally re-tighten your shroud (or watch your mast move forward over time) - plus the chafe factor is always a concern

vectran has stretch but doesn't have rebound (once stretched .. it is done)

i have heard most HM lines benefit from a good "tug" before use to reduce stretch and creep of a spliced line

Besides my martingales (spin bridals) i can't think of a place i use splices on any standing rigging

if you mean a jib sheet... that is a poor choice of line for that location
it it too light to effectively "snap" your line out of the jib blocks
it is (comparatively) expensive line and overkill for that use

regular xls line is what i use for my jib sheets

No, I did not mean Jib Sheet, on the 14 there is a stainless steel cable that runs underneath the trampoline, and the two jib blocks are attached through grommets on the trampoline.

ohhh. you mean the Jib block support cable.

yes it will work there

i strongly suggest you use vecrtran for this application (vs dyneema) for the reasons i mentioned above

come to think of it, if this line is under the tramp, i wouldn't splice both sides (or at all)

i would defiantly try to tie a truckers hitch so i could get some purchase and easily re-tighten the line every few months, or as needed
