Still a long way to go but things are moving faster all the time. The new Classifieds, Forums, and Calendar are able to update the home page so you have an "at a glance" view of what's new on the site.

https://wp.thebeachcats.com/

The Calendar system is shaping up. I've added events from Ocean Springs Yacht Club for 2025, favoritism because do their website. 😍

Special thanks to Dan @dssaak for not only taking a look at the calendar but also adding two events!

If anyone else has good info for a 2025 catamaran related event please go ahead and add it to the calendar, new even form is under the main calendar link in the menu.

Same with the classifieds. They are pretty much setup, but payments are on sandbox test mode, so when you go to pay just use test card numbers to go through the process.

Card number: 4111111111111111 (it's a 4 with 15 one's)

expiration date: any date in the future

security code: 123

Thanks for sticking with me, I still need your help and feedback, more than ever as we get closer.

(Disclaimer: Some of this is probably due to operator error/ignorance!)

I made a classified attempt (for a drysuit).  It's shown as pending under My Classifieds and also shows up on the Catamaran Parts page.  However, clicking on the ad in either place gives No Results Found.  Also, I never got to the point where you pay.  (All this sounds like it's maybe awaiting some kind of approval then payment before finalization?)

Initial uploading of the pix was a breeze with both click and drag.  Deleting them worked well also.  However, when I then tried to drag another one, the file was opened in the browser but didn't drag in.  (May be a Microsoft Edge issue?)  Clicking the box to add a subsequent pic worked fine.  I tried to add a URL link for Kokatat's sizing info in the Description.  Others may want to add one for boat/part specs or whatever.  (Just a thought.)  I'd also recommend that the title of the Parts Category include Gear.

A couple more general things (not specific to Classifieds)...

While in Test mode should we be giving feedback on typos, grammar, inaccurate content, etc.?  If so, pass them along as we see them or send in batches?  Post them in the forums or PM?

And...finally but most important...where the hell is the UNDO button?  It's my best friend! 😀

Great job, thanks for trying out the system, really helps. Yes, I had a setting wrong in the payment system, so you never got directed to the payment page.

The image handling was something I really wanted to improve from the old classifieds. Glad you found it easy. Not sure the issue with the second drag, shouldn't be a problem.

Adding a link shouldn't be a problem, just copy and paste, you don't have to use the link icon in editor to do it unless you want to have different text for the link than the actual url. Note that when you get a url, sometimes it has a bunch of extra stuff attached to the end that isn't necessary. Your link

  https://kokatat.com/support/sizing?srsltid=AfmBOopDvBW1Ijxsiw1fBuIfHZR6oG7cM8_xMnMHZNHnmhDITVmZZb6k

Also works without the gibberish after /sizing

https://kokatat.com/support/sizing

the rest is a tracking link to where the you were before you clicked on that page. ?srsltid=

Yes IF they are in the site structure, like links and page headings, not necessary in content. Post them as a new topic in Site Talk or email me at beacchats@thebeachcats.com so I can keep track.

The little curly in the editor toolbar will do the trick!

I've fixed the issue for the payments, please try again, use the credit card info in previous post and let me know how it goes.

Anyone else that would be willing to try would help out, just make up stuff and it can be deleted after the test.

I went into the drysuit ad and made some edits.  That worked well.  Was not directed to (and can't find?) a payment page.  (Perhaps because the drysuit ad is already published?)

Heading down to Biloxi this morning for Mardi Gras.  When I get back, I'll place another ad (for my 40-foot all-carbon foiling cat) and test the payment stuff.  If I get what I'm asking for it, your cut will be about $267,932.81.  The foiler is taking up too much room out by the horse stables, and I need that space for my airplane.  Besides, I like my Hobie 16 better anyway. 😉

@rattlenhum yes since your existing ad is already published to late for the initial payment. There is a "bump up" paid feature for existing ad at allows an advertiser to re-age their ad so it appears back at the top of the results.

Over the years I've had a lot of request for that and had to do it manually.

@damonadmin Did a Bump To Top on the drysuit ad and entered payment using the credentials provided, but nothing (like a payment confirmation) happened after that.  Maybe because that ad is already the most recent one in that category?

I also submitted a new ad under For Sale-Catamaran Sailboats.  It's shown as Pending under My Classifieds.  I was not redirected to a payment page.  Maybe awaiting action from you before that happens?  If there is purposefully a significant delay before proceeding to the next step, it would be nice to get a message about that and what happens next.  Or, if that's too complicated, maybe cover it in an FAQ?  Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong!!!

FYI...When I submitted the 11:39 am message above, I got a box telling me there had been a critical error with a link to Wordpress troubleshooting.  I'm using Edge if that matters.

P.S. You can revoke my Tester Card at any time with no hard feelings!

Got the same message (see attached) when posting the 11:46am message, but it looks like they both went through fine

Apparently, the payment for Bump To Top on the drysuit ad did go through (twice!)...showing up in the Payments page of My Classifieds.  May just be me (I'm old school and like paper receipts!), but I would expect some kind of confirmation/acknowledgement at the time of payment.
