Reviving a Supercat 19 from years of sitting

I acquired a Supercat 19 which has been sitting for years. If you end up with parts you don't need, I may be needing some. I cleaned up the boat, ordered a few parts and looking to learn a little about sailing it. I've sailed monohulls for a twenty years and own a few small sailboats, but still green to cat boats. I'm looking to order a cheata bracket so I can take this out in some current either off Milford Beaches or on the Housatonic River. I wouldn't mind hearing some suggestions on getting this boat going and learning to sail it.

Thank you in advance for any advise.

That's a nice looking 19. They are a handful in a blow but ripping fast!
You can find most parts here:

You've owned boats in the past so the cost shouldn't surprise you.
If she doesn't have the updated main halyard rig, you'll want one of those.
Check the attachment of the rigging tangs on the hulls.
Reseal all the fittings on the mast.
Go through the rudders. you might have to fill and re-drill the pivot holes. Get new swivel kits for the tiller crossbar.
Open up the cross beams and check for corrosion on the half-moon blocks.
If she has the old style wire rope traveler that's worth changing.
It's probably worth it just to go ahead and replace the standing rigging. Check the pigtail between the mast hound and swivel for the jib furler.
How are the sails?
Check the daggerboard wells closely. If she was run aground you could have leaks in there.
Re-bed the hull drain plug fittings.
Feel free to PM me. I sail with a couple of 19 owners.

Hi gahamby,
wrt: How are the sails? >>> They are in great shape, obviously not new, but stored well.

I appreciate the tips, I'm going to put those all on a list and use them in my review. I am still trying to figure out the rigging. I didn't get a roller furler in the kit of parts, so I may need to search for one of those. I have the manuals from aquarius and I have a lot more to read.

I'll take you up on PM's thx.

Michael

That furler is the Harken Small Boat model.

That's the furler. Check Ebay and Craigslist and other classified pages.
