Trimaran Windrider 17 ?

lostsailor,
I have sailed Windrider many times and it is my opionion that it is boring. It is best suited for hotel and resort rentals. I wouldn't buy one if you are looking for some excitement, but it is hard to get yourself in trouble on one of these. Damon, is it possible to add a photo in this thread? I have several photos of the Windrider.

Yes, you can include photos in a post by clicking on the Image button, you have to copy the url of the image between
[image] [/image]
To get the image url from a website using Firefox, right click on the image and choose "copy image location" in Internet Explorer you have to choose "properties" and copy the url from there.
If your pictures aren't already on the web, you can upload them to your own album under "Beachcats People", or you could start a Windrider album in "Beachcats Identification".

Before you buy I would take one out for a test drive. If you live anywhere near Destin, Fl. there are several available to rent at BayTown, SanDestin. They don't point well, and for the money you can get a Wave or similar. What I'm trying to say is try it out and see if it really fulfill s the goals you are trying to achieve, what ever they are.

Damon,
I need a little help here. I have created a photo album under the identification group but no longer see a simple way to upload a batch of photos. I installed the gallery remote but it doesn't really provide a user friendly upload option. I guess I'm missing something here. I have resized the photos and will zip and email to you. Could you help me put these in the folder?
Philip

Gil,
You can now see a photo album in the beachcats identification folder. The photos will be in an album called Windrider 17 trimaran.

I hope this helps.

Agree the windrider is not a fast boat but very child friendly good for the purpose.

I have had a WR 17 for 5 years. Its forte is going out in 20+ knots. I've had mine in 8 ft. waves 24 knots in Lake Erie with no problems. How can you call that boring? Where are the wetta videos in high winds?
How is this for a boring pic? That is not be but some guys in the Scandinavia area.

The last pic is me. The others are a couple guys I believe in Sweden. I forget what body of water. Shots were taken by someone off his balcony. Here are more pics of these guys....

Way cool shots! I've been sailing the WR17 since it was first introduced in the US market, and the WR16 prior to. They are bulletproof (and a ton of fun) but not what I would consider a performance boat. If you want more speed/agility, check out the Weta as several others have suggested. They're lighter and build quality is A+.
I'm Jon. I don't need a signature.
