Ahoy!

I recently purchased a 5.7m G-Cat catamaran and am currently restoring it. I have never owned a catamaran before, my only experience (and it is limited to 6 outings) was on a small dinghy. However, watching people sail cats looks invigorating and I decided to purchase one. I am wondering if anyone knows of any good sailing clubs within about a 2-3 hour radius of Baton Rouge? Also, I see that there are races for catamarans as well. I know I will want to race eventually, so would I even be able to race the boat I currently have? If I can race it, who would I need to contact to do so? Any and all help is appreciated!

Lemmonhead,

I don't know much about Baton Rouge, but there are sailing clubs in Lake Charles and Shreveport that have some catamarans. There is also one on Lake Ponchartrain. The Texas City Dike between Houston and Galveston is another catamaran hotspot. Try these links: http://www.tcdyc.com./ http://www.shreveyacht.com/ http://www.saillc.org/default.htm
