Has anyone had experience with these systems? Are they adaptable to any harness? They offer 3 different type of key-balls, is one better than another. Thanks, Bob.

I've been seeing a lot a folks using these things, one big advantage is it eliminates the hook which is prone to punch holes in the decks of these expensive new spin boats.

But for safety purposes... they are supposed to be an safer system.. but the debate is... you can just as easily be dragged under a boat with this system..

the advantage is is less likely to get snagged/fouled on a stay.. .or sheet...

Disadvantage... you must have the correct harness (with female keyhole) and if you don't have a second harness...(or female keyhole) you can't just pickup crew and double trap

I tried this system when I lived near Lake Michigan. The biggest issue seemed to be that it did not want to release when you still had pressure on the trap wire. Hitting the trap wire with your hand didn't allow you to fall to windward and you get pulled over with the boat.

This may be a technique problem since I only used the system for about 2 hours.
