Greetings Folks,
This looks like a really great forum. I have been sailing small boats (mainly Zuma's and Sunfishes) for a couple of years. Would like to move up to a cat. They look awesome!! My local Craigslist has a McGregor 15 with trailer, asking $800. Pictures look like it's in very good condition. Any words of wisdom about Mcgregor boats??

i PERSONALLY would stick with a boat that has more support (manufacture still in business, parts available, many people know how to rig/help)...

I would suggest a Hobie or similar

that being said.. you want the seller to rig any boat you look at (take notes... this is your chance to learn how to rig your cat, and make sure all parts are there), take for a test sail (would you buy a car without a ride?) check VERY WELL for cracks and soft spots on the hulls... (these can/might be fixed with time, money, energy.. but why?) and the shape of the sails... i doubt you can easly find new ones... so if they are in poor shape... (any of the items i listed) i would move on...

good luck, keep us posted

I was just given a Mcgregor 15 in decent shape
except for a few holes in one hull where it
fell off of the dock and got into some rocks.
I would appreciate any info about this boat. I plan
on repairing the hull and leaving it on a small lake
close by. This will go along with my H18M and P16.
How many cats are too many?

You can never have to many cats, just not enough time to sail them.
