Just bought a Nacra Inter 18 request help in Dana Point Ca.
Just bought a 2003 Nacra. I have owned and sailed Hobie 16's so I have experience sailing a Cat. The previous owner sent me an awesome CD of setting up and sailing but nothing beats the real deal of learning from a pro.
The cat is in Dana Point marina (dry storage) I am available most any time since I recently retired from the Fire Dept. Show me what you know and I will do the same for others as I gain more experience with an advanced Cat.
We'll do lunch or dinner afterward. Thanks!! Dan R

Hey congrats on the boat. I bought an 1998 Inter-18 a few years back and have upgrading/refining/tweaking since then. I really like the boat. She is a bit more finicky then a Nacra F-18 (and I suppose the Infusion). There's 2 Nacra F-18s on our beach + my Inter-18. A lot of this has to do with the beams being more forward then on those boats I think. There are a couple Inter-20s near by, I need to sail with those guys sometime.
We sail on Lake Michigan where it can get pretty big and I think I have replaced all the parts that needed it. I have definitely run the boat thru the ringer and can say its a solid boat. I'd be happy to tell you what I have done, how I think it sails etc. Shoot me a private message with your phone number and I'll call you sometime.
I'm having Skip Elliot make me new sails right now in-fact. I'm bucking the trend of getting a Whirlwind sails pentex radial and went with a modern cross-cut dacron. Why? well ... there us way less waste 90% usage vs like 50%, the boat is never really going to competitive F-18 as it's 4 generations old now and Pentex has a 6 year live where Dacron is 10+ and the Dacron will be way more durable.
I youtube our escapades, the last 2 videos from 2011 are the inter-18 going big.

Hi everybody!! sorry I have not replied to you all. I was busy registering the Cat and trailer the past few days. Yes, I bought the Nebraska boat and the previous owner was nice enough to drive it half way. We met in Albuquerque NM.
The trip was uneventful (boring) and I got a real clean vessel! I look forward to sailing with John and Hal, You already have me figured out! (I won't be a cheapskate to John!) My E-mail address is Danv35@aol.com Hope to see you all sometime. Dan
I want to thank John Schwartz for coming down and spending the better part of the afternoon and evening helping me set up my boat. John made sure I not only was able to explain what I was doing, but he practiced with me over and over until I got it right. I have made a new friend and am looking forward to sailing with John real soon. He is one class act! Dan
