I have raced on many monohulls but have recently bought my Prindle 16 and want to race! Who knows what is required to race in the PNW? I know I need insurance and a PHRF rating.

According to a post in Catsailor, Oregon racing has died after Hobie edict banning X boats. Recommend you find a couple H-16's &/or P-16's & race even. Start out with casual beach starts (crew holds bow head to wind in waist deep water, rudders down). It works here in Big Bear, requires no commitee, no costs. Pete

You may launch at one of two public ramps, but will be very carefully inspected for Quagga Mussels. Water is at top of dam so no beach this year & therefore no formal racing. Next year looks very promising (unless deluged) & mast-up storage runs $300-350 for 6 mo. Granada St ramp in Long Beach is next best site in S. Cal. Pete

al.reed. I'm not sure how to fully answer your question. I have raced in a few races and have never been a member of anything more than the sailing club. I have never bought insurance. All the races I was involved with did have a sign up and some front money, just like signing up to run a 5K on foot. It is possible the race was affiliated with insurance but I'm just not sure. I hope you enjoy your P16! Sail it like you stole it! πŸ‘Ώ
