Greetings!

I'm having a whale of a time finding used cats. I'm searching Craigslist, googling specific models, BoatTrader, Sailboatlistings, etc. and coming up with next to nothing relevant within a reasonable distance (~1,000 miles from Charleston, SC). I've also kept an eye on the forum here. I've gotten to the point that I'm searching for any beachcat dealer I can find and visiting their website. I'm trying to find a Nacra 5.0, Nacra 500, or Prindle 16, and not finding much. I'm so desperate I've even tried searching for Hobie 16s (with limited success -- one or two here or there). Are there any resources I'm missing?

I feel lazy asking, but I've searched for the last ten days and keep finding the same old listings over and over again. Maybe that's all there is. I really hope not.

Sounds like you are hitting all the typical sources. I'm not sure if there is a Hobie fleet or yacht club with multihulls nearby, but if there are, you might try to contact their local leadership and tell them what you are looking for. They might know someone who has talked about selling but hasn't gone through the trouble of listing. I've also known of folks who have spotted an obviously unloved cat sitting in a yard, knocked on the owners door, and inquired. My second boat purchase was done by putting out an ISO in the local classifieds and got a hit from some guy who got divorced recently and had a H16 he wasn't using (wife got the beachfront house and he got the cabin in the woods). Just some ideas for you. Good luck.

There's a red & white P-16 right in your backyard for under a $1000 (he dropped the price $500 as I talked to him!). Check the decks for soft spots though. Pete

How fixable are things like soft spots on the deck? What would it cost?

If that was a 5.0, I'd run out of my office right this instant and drive to Greensboro. I fear I'd destroy anything with daggerboards.

This is some of what I've found on my daily scan. Personally the SuperCat looks worth the trip. I have a '84 Hobie 14T in my back yard that's good to go. Good luck, GH

I'm very interested in the two Prindles. Thanks for the link! I've been looking mostly in SC, NC, GA, and FL to this point.

Try this. Perhaps use Prindle as a search.Edited by gahamby on Jun 03, 2015 - 12:35 PM.

That is an amazing link! How had I never heard of that before? There are some nice looking Prindles at great price points.

I'm in Minnesota, where do you want to meet? 😉

I have a Hobie 14 and a Hobie 20 for sale.

Probably not realistic for you, but thought I'd throw it out there!

Good luck!!

Your boat is in the classifieds on this site. That SuperCat17 is a beauty.
