Hello,

I posted a few days back looking at a new (to me) boat. One thing and another I've ended up trying to discover the difference between a Nacra 500 and 5.0. Not having seen the boats in person, and not having much luck on the Internet. Both were built around the late 90's-2000. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

There is no difference between the two except maybe the vintage. Performance Cat started calling the 5.0 the 500 in North America sometime in the early 2000s, I believe. It is still called the 5.0 outside of NA. Other than that they are the same boat.

Regards,
Dave

the nacra 5.8 became the 580 but had quite a few changes

the 5.7 became the 570, not sure any major changes

and the 5.0 became the 500

probably a few sail and rigging differences

things like daron to mylar sail and overlapping jib becoming front beam mounted jib etc but essentially the same boats

a few minutes doing google images searches should show you the main differences

google sea
