Crew position versus wind speed

Hello all,

On a Nacra Inter 18, what would be the range of wind speed for the different crew position on the boat? I mean to have both crew sitting on the hull, both with foot in the sangle, one on the trap and both on the trap.

Let say the wind is at beam reach.

The total crew weight is about 350 pounds.

Thank you,

There are a little more variables, but generally you will keep adding weight (righting moment) as needed. At a beam reach it shouldn't really take too much to have yourself double trapped. Keep in mind that the F18 was not designed with that point of sail in mind much. Most old school boats will have more power there until you go low enough for the spin.

For buoy racing, I guess it takes 12+ to double trap upwind on our F18 with 350lbs.
