You definitely picked a boat with a lot of setup for a beginner. It's an awesome boat just a bit of high learning curve for rigging. A friend of mine has done some interesting modifications to his 5.8 that I want to document sometime if I remember.

Not a 5.8 but a 6.0 with barber hauler, and only one side of the rotater rigged. Your set up may be somewhat different, (turning blocks and cleats).
Downhaul line is 3/16 and about 30 feet or shorten to taste, ends tie to the crew's trap dog bone.
Rotater line is either about 18 feet of 3/16 continuous or 2 pieces of 3/16 about 9 feet with the ends tied to the beam straps.

Brian,
I've got good friends in Pocatello, Blackfoot, Rigby, and Idaho Falls that I do stuff with regularly. I'll be up there this fall. I'm also extremely knowledgeable with the 5.8 and the Nacra boats. PM me and I can help you. I've got tons of pictures and documentation. The link Ron provided above will take you to my album, there is some helpful stuff there also. There is also a picture of one of my Blackfoot buddies. See if you recognize him.

Went out today for the first time. Holy cow! Catamarans point like crazy and fly when puff hits. I'm sold. Didn't even get the main up and still had a great day. Love it. Thanks for the tips guys. Next time, with a little braver crew, we'll be under full sail and I'll likely have a crash story to share.
akoutdoors1, you and I are literially in the same boat. I am just as new took my Nacra 5.8 out last weekend with only the jib as well, and had a similar great experience. I was beating all monohulls with just the job. The 5.8 is so bouant that I didn't get a drop of water on me the whole time. Read my Need help Rigging my Nacra 5.8, people have been very helpful.

Thanks I will check out your post. I took the boat out yesterday. We had little wind so I raised the main. Even better. Next time maybe we'll hoist both and let her run a little.

Hey Brian The Utah Sailing association will be at Bear Lake on the Labor Day weekend. We have several 5.8 owners in our group. If you want to come pick their brains it can probably be arranged. We have a primo group site on the south end of the lake. Camping fees to joins us for a family are around $45-$55 and that includes dinner Saturday night.
This might be a good time get some help with that 5.8. Even though the group is a Utah sailing group we have many members that come down from Pinedale, Wyoming to hang with us also. You are probably about as close to Bear Lake or possibly even closer than I am so if your interested we spend Memorial weekend, 4th of July weekend, and Labor Day weekend there every year. The camping is prearranged by the group and rates are cheaper if paid early in the season as part of our membership. It can be hard to get these sites on your own because they are group sites and are reserved almost a year in advance.
We don't even have to use the ramp with the water so high right now we just drop our boats onto beach wheels from the parking lot and walk them the 50ft or so to the water. If you don't have wheels don't worry most are more than happy to share.
Let me know if your interested. On Saturday we will have an unofficial race up to Garden City to eat lunch at LeBeau's and Back then a Big Group Spaghetti Dinner.

Dustin, that's great. I told my wife about it and we're definitely planning on coming. We were at Bear Lake 3 weeks ago, raspberry festival, some one flipped a prindle, LOTS of wind, even for the Balboa 26 we were on. What should we bring besides the boat, wetsuits, floaties, insurance cards?
