Hey Ted,

Do you have any more info on the Sacandaga Icebreaker
this Saturday. Maybe the time it starts and if there is
a preregistration required. Made a new tramp for my freebie
Venture cat and got it on it's mooring on Kinderhook Lake.
You will have to come out a sail it sometime.

This is kind of an old post but I thought I would bring her back. I just moved to the Albany area a few months ago. I grew up in Alexandria Bay ny on the St Lawrence. I have been killing to get out on the water!!! it seems like all the lakes around here are private!! no good public launches for a sailboat. I have been in the market for a Hobie 17 bc I think it would be a great fun solo/one crew boat to mess around on. And simple for taking newbies on. I checked out the Saratoga sailing club and I really cant afford membership.. they do have a few un used h17s though that I am trying to get my hands on atleast one. If any one needs a crew in the area let me know! Im not the best sailor in the world but I know the basics and at 180lbs im good deck meat and I love getting out on a trap!

tempting! I could be up for a rochester trip. I have lots of friends there. I used to race 420s out of the Rochester Yacht club. I would like to try out a 17 first before I buy one. I have quite a bit of seat time in an H16. They are exciting for sure! My uncle actually has an olympic tornado from the 80s. I havent got to sail it yet but I have heard stories!!! hahaha. I really like the lines of the Nacra 5.2 and 5.0 but they are pretty hard to find. There is a 5.2 for sale in vt on this site. not too far away but might be a bit much for me to handle solo and step solo.

Welcome to the Albany area. There are quite a few of us sailing cats around here. Take a look at craigslist
Albany. There are two 17's on there right now. Fleet 238 is based out of Albany and it is a bunch of great
people who like to sail. There are also 4 cats racing out of the Mayfield Yacht club. If you are available afternoons during the week i can get you out on Sacandaga on my P16. Next weekend fleet 238 is sailing
out of Northampton campground on Sacandaga. Probably be at least one 17 there. I will pm you my email and phone if you have any other questions.

Thank you! I look at the 750$ one. the hulls are thrashed. but everything else is there and in good shape. so if any one wants parts i know where to send you. Do you have to join fleet 238? and do they only race? I really looking just to race for fun not too seriously. would they allow other boats than hobies? its too bad i wont be here next weekend... I am from alex bay ny and its Pirates weekend so i am heading there. I might take you up on a pindle ride! I have only seen one once, never sailed. I get donw work around 330 so I could get there by 430-5ish.

Fleet 238 doesn't organize any races. They just have fun sails and attend the mayors cup race in Plattsburgh.
I just started racing a bit for fun. I prefer to go out and go fast.

welcome to the forum. and the area, I sail a hobie 21se, keep it at the lake by Petes prindle, there is an active group from the mayfield Yacht club that has a community race every Saturday usually during the sumer, all boats welcome, and they use portsmouth numbers for race results, very nice group and good sailors, they are allways welcoming more it seems. we just started racing this year and are enjoying the challenge. Look forward to seing you on the lake

I would really like to hit the water with you guys. Let me know if ya need any trap weight to keep that 21 down! If i could find a place to keep my boat on sacandaga next summer that would be the best. I will be living in toga and its not that far away!
