Happy Friday everyone! My old boat and it's best speed run to date (17.46 kts. = 20.1 mph) made the Global Speed Stick coming in at #26. Thanks to my friend Curtis Crotts as crew for the run.

Here's the listing:

Here's the video (my boat at about 10:30)

Relax and enjoy yourself this weekend, no need to hoard TP or anything else.

How long must the speed be maintained? The foiling A-cat is probably capable of breaking some of those numbers. Provided somebody could survive the results. 😉

Yeah that's moving along pretty freakin good. According to Navionics, 19.7 knts is the best I've ever done. Would be hard to image being passed by another cat doing 6 knts better.

To be clear, it is a modified 18-2; 9'6" beam, square top main, jib on a bow foil, and a whole bunch of other boat parts rolled in...

Scott,

Yup. I remember that 18-2 and the rating from 2019 Texas 300 DASH.

Enjoy

The Nacra 5.0 is capable of much higher speeds than I've been able to put up so far. My runs are all upwind close hauled and hiking (no trap) due to the extremely gusty/shifty local conditions. Hopefully this season I can get the boat to a larger venue and employ the trap to get the warp drive engaged.

I've seen Hobie 16s find mid to high 2_ mph. Here's Bennett at 29.5 mph on one.

He's off the wind best I can tell on a beam reach double trapped with heavy crew (400 lbs) in a 25 - 35 kts breeze.
