I got a truck box to hold rudders et cetera. It is too wide to fit between the hulls when perpendicular to them. At 6 feet long It won't easily fit ahead of the bows. I put it in between the hulls when parallel to the hulls. It stick out ahead of the cross bars a few feet. No other place options. Only issue is the lid is 4 or 6 inches below the cross bar and I can't open it. It will need to be load and unload without a boat on the trailer. Any ideas?
I have the same problem. The lid on my box is split in two. I can then shift the boat aft enough that I can open one of the lids.
This only works when the trailer is not set up for the road. In other words, the position of the catamaran for actual road trailering still completely blocks opening the box. The solution is partial. It's a pain in the ...
For my trailer I took a 15 inch diameter drainage culvert that is plastic and round and smooth on the inside tied it down to my trailer I have caps on both end and one end is removeable get whatever length suits my sails and boards fit just fine

I use lunchbox's from Trey, 12', that sit a few inches below the hulls so you can still access everything.
I then source a truck like box but one that is more like 4' wide to put in front of these for carrying tools, wet gear etc.
I built my own trailer box back in '85 for my first new Hobie 16. I used 1/8" aluminum walk plate and formed it at sheet metal shop. It is shaped like a 10' long "mail box" with the front end welded and the rear end opens like a mail box.
I built a long red wood tray that slides on Teflon pcs. along the floor of this mailbox. This is where my rudder assemble folds into along with a tool box , main sheet blocks and anything that might be damp.
I added a self above this tray that holds two sets of sail.
So fast forward to today, this trailer box still looks new. π

I wonder if the "Toy Box", or "Boombox" boxes are still available somewhere. My trailer has a 10" PVC tube that is in the middle of the trailer and it works very well for my needs. I use buckets as endcaps and can access items from the front or rear. It works.
I just saw a photo in the ad section of a shoe box lid. If I unbolt the hinges, that's what I will have. It will mean gasps will be needed, but way better than a non accessible hinged box. Thanks TBC!
