I have my a-cat listed in the classified ads. Over the last several weeks I've received emails from a Tom Leonard stating he is interested in my boat. In his response he listed a phone number. I have called and left messages and returned his e-mails with no response on his end.
Does anyone know if Tom Leonard exists? Or is this just another scam?
It's pretty frustrating these days trying to sell something over the internet.
Thank you in advance for your help. His Beachcats screen name is alphatom.

Did the email you received from Tom originate from the "Contact Seller" form? Or do you have your email address listed in the ad?

I checked the username and it's been registered for a while, so at least didn't just register to contact you. Scammers are usually pretty obvious, but there are always new methods so it does pay to beware.

More likely Tom is just Holiday busy, so best of luck on the sale.

Hi Damon,
Thanks for your response. Yes, the e-mail did come through the website "contact seller" form. This is the second time in three weeks he has tried to contact me through the same method. Once, three weeks ago, then again on Jan 2. Both times I called and left messages and returned the form without any response on his end.
I'll just ignore any future inquiries from this individual.
Thanks again Damon.

Im betting Tom is " Trap Dreaming ". He saw an ad for a really cool boat and started fantasizing about flying across the water all trapped out. So he sent a message that he wants to buy your boat ! Then his wife forces a capsize telling him to turn off the computer and go shovel the snow.

LOL, That makes the most sense. I think we can all relate to that scenario!

Thanks Scott.

Alas, in Arizona I am reminded to sweep the sand off the driveway. The upside is that I get to do it in shorts and a T-shirt, with a cold libation nearby.

I've found that whenever you sell a boat you have to go through the DT's (Dream Trappers). Usually about 10 people who talk you up and make commitments and then disappear. The more exotic the boat, the worse the DT's get. It's hard to tell who's serious and who is yankin' yer downhaul. You only know for sure when the cash hits your palm.

Ps. I want to buy your boat, it's f'n awesome
