The French are at it again. The Ultime trimarans, Sodebo & SVR Lazartique have left again for the round the world record. They tried a month ago but both broke their foils hitting some junk in the Atlantic.

Here's the trackers.

That's a really wet, cold ride.

SVR Lazartique broke a while back in the North Atlantic.
Sodebo just broke their rudder somewhere between Australia and Antarctica.

Bummer.

It's too bad the two boats couldn't finish. It's a crazy thing they try to do. The record seekers have to seek out bad weather for high winds the whole way around to have a chance. The Jules Verne is basically a circumnavigation of Antarctica, the further south you go the shorter the distance but the worse the conditions!
