I rigged up my Treadwell Topper tent on the tramp of my 21SE today and re-waterproofed the fabric. The tent is designed to fit a Hobie 16 but works on other catamarans too. The tent floor unzips and wraps around the underside of the tramp on a 16. On the 21SE it lays on top of the tramp. The boom runs through the top of the tent held up by the main halyard. The tent is sizable (8'X 7') and well vented with doors on both ends.

Has anyone else ever use one of these tents?

Or built one of their own?

Or just use a good dome style tent on your tramp?

~~ I bought a tent from here in the add's. It fits my Hobie 18 good, but not my 17 (the boom is to low), It might work on a H16 ?? We set up last year to see how it fits.. I think the tent was made by Hobie, not sure of the size but 2 can fit in it. Will I use it?? I don't know but I did like the price of it, in good cond't, I don't think it was used at all,,, but I have one LOL πŸ˜€

On the P 16 I used a tarp over the boom with corners bungee corded to the gunnels. I worked well. We rigged a rain pancho over the boom end for privacy, with the halyard through the neck hole attached to the boom clew. On the 18-2 I sleep in the van.

I use a regular dome tent. It works great. I tie it to the pylons where it would normally get staked. Rainfly gets staked out to the sand. 7x7 is a common tent size and fits my Hobie 16 perfect and works fine on my Gcat 5.7. It's great being off the ground. Bugs are bad in my area so I need more than just a tarp set up.

Hey Cyber, can you post that pic from photobucket or something, I do not Facebook and cannot see the pic.

BTW, I got an ARC22 tall rig and live in North Palm Beach, I keep her mast up and ready to blast, we gotta hook up. Pic of her at home sleeping. πŸ˜€

Beautiful boat. The pic was supposed to be visible to everyone.

I have her off the beach right now doing some maintenance work but plan on doing a fair amount of sailing this summer. Do you do any racing?

Hi flfingermullet,
How is it going. Have you been sailing lately? I am getting closer to getting my boat back on the water. Replacing forestay bridle tang bulkheads, new tramp and third crossbar.

The camping tents seams should be reliable with nylon tape and double-stitched. The tape is stitched into every joint, which reinforces the joint and adds to the weather-proofing. All waterproof seams in on the fly and ground are usually factory waterproofed with a joint sealer. Set up the tent in your backyard before the first tent use to test out the pitching process. You can also use this chance to go to your local sporting goods store to buy some joint sealer and waterproofing cover. It's always a good idea to do this to ensure a dry trip. Make sure you allow the tent to dry before packing it back up.

A camping tent is an important asset for a camper and should not simply offer a comfort but keep away the rain, snow, cold and harmful insects. Always buy a high-quality tent, even if it means you have to spend extra money on it. Previously to buying your camping tent, decide the kind of camping you will be doing, in what climactic situation and how many people will be staying in the tent with you.
