It's time to head to the Ocean Springs Yacht Club, MS. 13 miles out to Ship Island, a big party on the island, 13 miles back to the club, a big party at the club, then the next day its 24 miles around Deer Island. At stake is the record around Deer Island held by Dooley on a Prindle 19!!! Beat the record and get your name on the trophy in the club. This event draws over 45 boats so don't miss out and lets make this a 70 boat event. Sign up online at :
https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_club_events.php?CLUB_ID=451
This race is a great way to spend the Memorial Day Weekend. Come out and enjoy home made Jumbalaya made by Robbie Halstead and catch up with all your friends and make some new ones. Bring the family and they can catch a ride to the island to enjoy the weekend too. See you on the Gulf!!

The events at Ocean Springs Yacht Club are some of my favorites, great place to sail and lots of good people. One of the few places you'll find a full service Yacht Club (pool, bar, etc) that focuses on catamaran sailing.

If you haven't been to Slip to Ship (Memorial Weekend) and Horn Island Hop (4th of July Weekend) you owe it to yourself. It's also a great destination for the non-sailors in your family with the Biloxi Casinos across the beautiful new (post Katrina) bridge and Ocean Springs is full of Art Galleries and such. So if you bring the non-sailing spouse or kids they will have plenty to do while you tour the Islands.

Take a look at the entry list, starting to fill out. I know there are plenty who haven't registered online. Early registration ends May 21, price goes up $10 after that.

You don't have to pay online to register online, just go to
https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_club_events.php?CLUB_ID=451#

I registered a while ago and just now realized that I may have a conflict with Jury Duty of all things. I report next Monday and most likely won't have to go the whole week but you never know. My mother has it this week and she has been selected to a murder trial and sequestered for the duration!

I couldn't handle being sequestered with no phone or Internet access.

hmm, just read in the paper about the "race for the case" this weekend .. does slip to ship always coincide with the other regattas to ship?

That is confusing, never heard of the great ship island race although I see it on the calendIm

I'm in Ocean Springs now so I'll ask tomorrow.

Great SI race has been held for a long time, it's a monohull thing. It's Larry Stewart's gig.

Race for the Case is usually held later in the season, Sam V changed it to (I believe) hopefully get more interest. He'll lose the multihulls but possibly gain more leaners.

Someone with an N20 and some skill needs to show the leaners how its done.

Beautiful day out right now, hopefully you guys will have a little more wind tomorrow though. (~5 knot right now)

If you see a purple and yellow/green sail, i'll just be playing around in my own little world near the coast line so dont mind me πŸ˜›

Beautiful day today, sailed twice, perfect conditions, hope the weekend stays the same as today. Got my Friday Sunburn because I seem to always forget to sunblock when I'm setting up.
