Does anyone know what the deal is with using the parking lot at the southernmost end of Stone Harbor NJ to sail off the beach there? Do you need a permit? Can you leave the trailer there over night?

Thanks,

Stone Harbor.... many a childhood summer was spent there.... we owned a house at 109th St. and 2nd Ave...

In answer to your question I believe the answer is NO, at least it was in 1994 which was the last time I was there... But you may want to call the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol... 609-368-8461 to confirm this.. We ended up going over to the ramp on 81st street..

You may want to schlep down to Cape May, I believe one of the beaches there is cat friendly....

Thanks. I was able to confirm that SH still does rent "slips" on the beach and you can leave your cat there during the season. I'm just trying to get a phone call back from the person on charge of this at the SH Borough offices.

This is good news.... do they allow "other" water craft as well? Of just sailboats...

Here's the deal: $225 per season April through October for a slip on the beach and you get to leave boat overnight. You can download the license form from the SH Borough website. No fee just to put in and sail during the day. No motor vehicles on the sand. There is a parking lot to leave your trailer during a day sail. They did not say it was limited to cats and I don't see why other sail craft can do the sale. The application says "Sailcraft Permit" .

You can put in PWC on the bay side at the 81st Street Marina ramp.
