I looked at a H16 that had bungee cords attached to the rudders and inspection ports under the tiller arms. The unreadable serial number looked as it was etched. It was located above the rudder gudgeon. It may have said Cal75???911r. Any insights?

Neither one of those things matter much with age. There used to be a kit to install shock cord around the rudders to help with weeds. HIN on the back gets you to 1976 or so, they were all hand scribed. Black anodized castings get you to 1984 or newer.

Hmmm... My 1978 had black castings... They called it a special edition back then.

Doesn't look like a hobie number to me. Hobie numbers start with CCM or HCC

Could be something manufactured by....
