We're planning on launching Miz B somewhere and sailing somewhere this weekend. Not sure if we're launching at house and going to Horn or launching in Long Beach and going to Cat.

They're calling for east winds and there's nowhere to anchor totally calmly at Horn in an east, but the wind forecast is light...

was working on the coast today and had time to cruiz around a bit...the "backasswards" is safe and sound...the wind was howling out of the southeast...was thinking if i would go out in these winds when all the sudden i see the biloxi schooner "glenn l. sweatman" sailing down the channel and into the docks...they had the jib up and the the fore main only, what a sight! they were the only boat out there and they sailed into the slip...no motor! nice job fellas!!! now thats old school...

Had the H18 DoubleTime out yesterday screaming around the sound... 'twas great until about 3:30 when the sun started getting a bit low... Today gave a little H17 a bubble bath and found some leaks... hulls coming off tomorrow for closer inspection. Can't wait to get that 17 on the water.

Oh yeah... next Tues (Dec 21) a few of us (two H18s and a 16 so far..) are planning to zip around the sound, scream up casino row, and probably pull up on Deer Island... there's talk of another overnight on Horn as the temps will be up, and the full moon too....

dang...sails are at sail care, boat broken down, waiting for new mast base and standing rigging to come in...the wind has been blowing big time lately just to piss me off...hope to have it all together earlier this year.

i saw them earlier this year at lulu"s in gulf shores...they were looking for crew to sail to panama city. some serious wood on those boats!! you would have to cut down a small forrest to build one and they are relatively small sailing ships.

No, that one's too close! About 2 miles further west there's 2 of them on the beach... then another closer to Gulfport.

We got a late start (someone couldn't find their wetsuit) so we just blasted up the casino row, did a 180 and blasted back the other way since the water was so flat... and did a bunch of hull flying schenanigans out front of the yacht club.

it was blowing... and a blast. I rigged up an 8 or 9:1 main system... makes life lots easier!

was at the spot last week and noticed how nice the bp clean up has left it. besides the federal funds to build up deer island(which is impressive!), the spot has been combed over more than donald trump's head...all the concrete and most of the old oyster shells have been removed from where we launch/land. here is the before and after shots:

both shots were at low tide with the after shot even lower. looks like a great start to the new season!
