Dear Capt. Coastrat:

Bad news, a portion of Horn Island is being closed indefinately. BP discovered asbestos tiles in an area of the island called the chimney during an inspection in June. The tiles are leftovers from WWII use of the island. It is also believed that containers of mustard gas may have been disposed of in the big lagoon. Bummer.

At least the lovely cuttie at the Fillin station continues to voice her desires for Giggles. One man's trashy, is another man's treasure. Bring me more delights, Rhonda Sue! :girl: :love3: :biglove:

Hank I wonder if that means any fish caught out of the lagoon come with built in secret sauce? :-O

ok, gonna try for ship island friday(tomorrow), whatever you were supposed to do just blow it off til monday...that's what i would do. even better if you take 2 weeks off then quit...

Bill I love getting to kid around with you guys, but on a serious note all of you be safe with that storm coming in. I had a small Cat1 chase me up the Houston Ship Channel years ago on a fairly large excursion boat. Sounds like fun till the storm starts gaining on you, (it was a painfully slow paddlewheeler). I came within an inch of getting washed off the damn thing.
Have fun, but get the hell out of the way before that thing can hurt you guys!

giggles! aka captain backasswards... you have some splane-in to do!!! they want to know where is that dirty old man who always harasses them and then laughs like a madman? you have a certain standard to maintain! i'm sure hal could creep these fine young ladies out proper...they'd be asking about him for years...so tighten up skipper and get back to dirty-old-mannin'! that is all..

i'm off Fri, nice breeze, what time ya'll thinking about? room at OSYC if you want to launch, most boats are still gone from ISAAC... I'd love a run to Horn.

let's do it! we be there 10:30ish...horn would be epic! looks like some wind and some 4' seas...OH JOY!!!! glad you can make it, we can push it real hard :-O

How was it?! Wish I coudl have made it out on the water!!! I was stuck pulling barbed wire. 🙁

GREAT sail out, but got headers so didn't make Horn... lo and behold, Ship Island dead ahead, so that's where we landed.. .beautiful sail out, nice to check in w/that sandbar once in a while... some cold ones and a s'mich or 2, a swim and we headed back.... made it pretty much to Deer Island before the wind dropped out... caught a great afternoon sail... then dinner cruise... then sunset sail... twilight sail... hoping it wouldn't turn into a sunrise sail... in the end, some folks at OSYC had a boat they came and towd the last few bits of the trip... great day, good ending.

PS Landraider, there's a few of us talking about heading out from OSYC about 1 or 1:30 2morro (Sun) to sail down casino row, then long biloxi beach to Shaggy's on hwy 90... ... have a redfish sandwich and cruise back... you never know who or if or what anyone will show... sometimes youre a loner, sometime there's 6 boats... so FWIW....

Was a beautiful friday indeed. The wind was looking up for ya at first, but man o man did it die as the day went on.

Hopefully i'll make it out there next weekend. Has OSYC become the new cat launch? 😛

hope to get down soon for some round the cat race training/liver stretching soon...mayby friday? or a few days next week...if your feeling salty and you want to test out that gear, the round the cat race is a nice little distance race that starts where it ends...about 30 mi.les as the crow flys but your gonna be tacking somwewhere so add a few. last year there were 5 multis, they will still race with 3, so i'm trying to pump up some more folks. pass christian yacht club is the second oldest yacht club in america...great sailin tradition!

looking like a friday for me this weekend...thursday night in 'goula @ jack's by the tracks jamming with some old friends and friday sailing!... come on out! take 2 weeks off then quit! no race for me this weekend...looks like no wind...if it ain't blowin', i ain't goin'! could launch out of goula or osyc...or that secret spot landraider knows, st. andrews? THE LIVER IS EVIL, IT MUST BE PUNNISHED!!!

Jacks by the tracks... I may have to go hear some jams and a brew. Prob do 'honey do's on Sat though.. hoping to do some sialing on Monday... but we're planning an sailing/camping trip to Horn Island on Oct 13th... got quite a motley crue going... power boats too... times for some good fishing, eathing, drinking and hiking a few trails when the spirit moves us... check out the Walt Anderson trail, going far east this time towards the 'goula end of the island... new territory for the OS crowd... cheers man.. -rob.

saweet! the east end is prime location...tall dunes, long beach tip, right next to sand isle/petit bois,ship channel...enjoy!!!

check out jacks! good food, music 6-10:30, good times! i might launch in goula and make a horn/petit bois friday...calling for ne winds early and se later...think east end of horn is 9 miles from singing river yc, due south.

Coastrat, were yall successful in Goula? Any Goula Gal news? I hear they grow 'em nice and ripe down there. CuCuuuu. :catchchicken:

ahhh... good times, got to spend some time with my high school sweetheart...she looks amazing!!! hasn't changed a bit!...

sailing sucked...no wind...nada...didn't even rig the boat...did tell the ladies @ fillin' station hello for you...they miss giggles 🙁
