A new short distance race is in the works for Galveston, Texas its brand new for 2011 so details are still getting worked out. The date is july 2, 2011 its aprox 15 miles and its free the location for the finish is on a prime spot in Galveston and they want to make this annual event so its pretty sweet. more details can be found here http://surfsidesailing.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/july-2-race-update/ I will have a flyer made up real soon but if you have ever wanted to get a small taste of distance racing this would be a good place to start. Next year the distance may be increased to 40 miles. Come on down and sail in the gulf and bring your family they will love Galveston!

Thanks matt922, that's the correct link to add an event to the calendar. Once you submit the form the event goes to an approval queue until I check it, so don't worry if it doesn't appear on the calendar immediately.
